Happy New Year, New Hires, and Useful Resources...
Happy New Year everyone! It's finally winter in northwest Pennsylvania (it was nearly 60 degrees a few days in late December) and we're hard at work helping clients...inside...where it's warm. At Bull Moose this month, we've not only been taking on new clients, but also making more marketing resources available to regional manufacturers and tourism partners.
In this month's newsletter, we have a new article to share with you on the importance of social media for manufacturing. Jen McDonough, our newest employee at Bull Moose will make her newsletter debut! We're happy to share funding resources for manufacturers who need marketing help and have been hurt by foreign competition. We've even thrown a few other resources for tourism and small business in for your review. Finally, Bull Moose is thrilled to be able to offer marketing resources on our website for our clients, friends, and members of the community at large. Learn more about this area of our website below.
We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter and find something useful to employ in your own business. Here's to 2020! --Bully!

How Can Manufacturers Use Social Media to Grow Their Business
Social media is having a big impact on the manufacturing industry and helping manufacturers sell, develop, and recruit new associates. It has become a great way to share information and ideas, identify new opportunities, recruit new employees, and find collaborative partners around the world. Facebook and other channels are not just about sharing vacation and lunch photos, keeping up with friends, or watching funny cat videos. They have become one of the most effective communication and marketing mediums since radio stations started airing advertisements. Here are a few statistics to keep in mind:
74% of engineers use social media for work one or more times per week.
Millennials (people between the ages of 20 – 40) are more likely to use social media than other generations.
We wanted to take a moment to introduce our newest member of Bull Moose, Jen McDonough. Jen is an Army brat who lived all over the world before returning to the United States for college. She has earned an undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University, a Master of Education degree from the University of Maryland, and Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University.
As an attorney, Jen’s work has centered around compliance and contract analysis and negotiations, working at a Fortune-500 corporation, a boutique law firm, and later, for her own LLC. Her professional career also includes time as an account manager at a Baltimore-based marketing agency and as a teacher in Pittsburgh Public School system.
Outside of work, Jen dedicates time as an Academic Support Specialist at Allegheny College and serves on the board of directors for the Meadville Neighborhood Center. When she isn’t working, Jen enjoys spending time with her family and tackling DIY home projects.
Jen will be jumping in as an Account Manager here at Bull Moose working primarily with our manufacturing and B2B clients. In the coming weeks, we will be making personal introductions to those whose accounts she will be responsible for.
Has your Company been Negatively Affected by Foriegn Competition?
Manufacturers who have suffered due to foreign competition are often eligible for funding for marketing and other services to make them more competitive through cost sharing with the MidAtlantic Trade Adjustment Assistance Center (MATAAC), an organization chartered by the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Snapchat and Tourism: Why Businesses Should Jump In
You’ve probably heard a lot of talk about Snapchat lately, a very popular app among millennials (and younger). Sixty percent of all smartphone users are now on Snapchat and over 10 billion videos are viewed per day on the app. Impressive, huh? So, what exactly is Snapchat and why has it grown to be one of the most downloaded and used apps of 2019?
